Filing Requirements: Apparent Conformity Review
The Adams County Election Authority (EA) Office conducts an Apparent Conformity Review at the time of filing to ensure your nomination papers meet basic standards. To avoid issues:
- Bind petition papers at the top (you can staple at filing without losing your place in line).
- Number petition sheets consecutively (unnumbered sheets mean losing your place in line).
- Notarize all required forms before arriving (county employees won’t notarize; unnotarized forms result in loss of place in line).
- Include a Statement of Candidacy and Petition sheets (missing forms result in loss of place in line).
If your papers fail the review, they’ll be rejected, but you can correct and refile during the filing period. If issues are found after filing, you’ll be notified in writing to correct and refile within the filing window. The EA Office won’t catch errors beyond this checklist, so double-check your paperwork!
