On Monday, October 20th, at 7:00 AM, we’ll be joined by Joe Cervantez, a Marine Corps veteran, seasoned prosecutor, and dedicated public servant from southern Illinois. As the former Jackson County State’s Attorney, Cervantez brings a wealth of experience to his statewide campaign. He launched his bid for Attorney General in August 2025, emphasizing a no-nonsense approach to public safety, ending the politicization of the justice system, and breaking Illinois’ Democratic “triplex” of statewide offices that he says prioritizes party loyalty over the people.
“I believe the Attorney General’s office should serve as the people’s lawyer, not the party’s,” Cervantez has stated in recent interviews. With a career that includes prosecuting serious crimes, advocating for drug courts to combat addiction, and fighting for reforms in juvenile justice, Cervantez is laser-focused on practical solutions: cracking down on violent crime, protecting law enforcement, and ensuring the rule of law applies equally to all.
